MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS BIOGRAPHY FAQ version 1.0 Written by Terri Ann C. Guingab Created: 14 March 1996 This file is Copyright (c) 1995-6 by Terri Ann Guingab. It may be freely distributed, so long as the text remains unaltered, all headers remain intact, and credit to the author is properly given. So in other words, don't try to take credit for the hard work I've put into this file. Yes, I still don't like legalese. The purpose of this file is to answer one question, really -- "Just who the heck are these people"? Unfortunately, not much is known about the actors involved with MMPR. Through some serious digging and searching, I was able to come up with a few tidbits of info about each actor/character. The majority of the character info comes from the "Official Fan Club Video" and also an information sheet that comes with Power Ranger stickers/decals (I have no idea how to go about officially documenting that as a source). While I've tried to be accurate, I can't guarantee that this FAQ is 100% error free. But I tried. All references to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and its character names are Copyright (c) 1993-1995 by Saban Entertainment. The most up to date version of this file can be downloaded from my web site, located at http://osf1.gmu.edu/~tguingab/power (note that there's a number "one" in osf1 and vms1. It is not a letter "L"). ========== _Austin St. John_ Birthday: September 17, 1975 Birthplace: Roswell, New Mexico Parents: Steve and Sharon St. John Siblings: Stephen What Life Was Like Before Becoming a Power Ranger: Austin spent a lot of time moving from town to town with his dad, a Marine. At the company, he took a particularly keen interest in the works of Shakespeare. He then embarked on a career as a commercial actor, before joining the cast of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers(TM)." Schrier makes his motion picture debut in "MMPR: TM." Paul Schrier was born on June 1, 1970 The following has been culled from several personal correspondences with Mr. Bob Manahan via e-mail. _Bob Manahan/Zordon_ Age: 38 Life before MMPR: Got his degree in chemical engineering right around the time there was a glut of new chemical engineering grads. He started doing the sound for local sporting events. His father, a vice president of Sony, was able to get him networked with all the right people. Then came a job working as the staff mixer for NBC sports, where he had the opportunity to travel all around the country (all by the age of 23!). His career in Post Production work began after settling down with the wife and kids. How He Got the MMPR gig: Was originally working as the post production mixer at Modern Studios, where MMPR is mixed. When the original Zordon, David Fielding, had to leave to take care of personal business, Bob and his "bad" imitations of David landed him the role. Previous Projects: Was Ray the Cameraman and the voice in the hopper on "Beakman's World". Has done the announcer's voice on some Nintendo ads. Works on post production sound for "Mad About You", "Unhappily Ever After", "Beakman's World" and "V.R. Troopers". Current Projects: Has left Modern to work for Sony Pictures Studios, where he'll be doing post-production work on Party of Five and Hudson Street (a new show featuring Tony Danza). Although he no longer works for Modern, expect to hear Bob commanding Our Heroes to "Observe the Viewing Globe" for at least the rest of the third and fourth season. He also might be doing one of the voices on Masked Rider. Where Some of it Got Him: Has won 2 Emmy's Why Does the Voice Sound a Touch Different in the Third Season: Because he now records the voice at Saban Studios, like everyone else. There's a different microphone and a different guy doing the mixing, hence, the different sound. Nicknames: At work, he's known as "Zordon", and is introduced as "The Big Z". Bob's wife is known as "Mrs. Zordon". Family: Has a wife and three kids, ages 7, 5, and 2. Hobbies: Coaches soccer. Loves music, hates disco, is currently the producer for a band. Has been known to sneak away and listen to Motley Crue albums on occasion. Longtime Eagles Fan -- you might be able to see him in the "H*ll Freezes Over" MTV Unplugged video. He sat about three rows back. Also loves motocross desert racing. Favorite T.V. Show: The X-Files. Has a friend who mixes that show. Ever Wondered What Bob Looks Like?: Check out the "You Can With Beakman and Jax" homepage at http://www.nbn.com/youcan/beakworld/sound.html. On it, you'll find a picture of Bob winning an Emmy award for outstanding work on "Beakman's World". An Israeli who spent part of his childhood in Egypt, Saban began his career at age 22, in Israel, as a music promoter and manager. In 1973, the Yom Kippur War forced him to move to France where he forged Saban Records, a successful producer of television soundtrack recordings. In 1980, Saban relocated to Los Angeles, where he opened Saban Entertainment. During the last 15 years, Saban Entertainment has grown exponentially to become a leader in the creation, production, acquisition, distribution and licensing of all forms of television programming, music and feature films for the worldwide entertainment marketplace. Saban, whose international company holds offices in such locations as Los Angeles, New York, France and Germany, lives in Beverly Hills with his wife and two children. _Shuki Levy_ SHUKI LEVY (Producer) collaborated with longtime partner Haim Saban in creating the concept for the phenomenally successful "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers(TM)." Levy is also a singer who's sold more than 14 million records; a composer of themes for more than a dozen feature films and television movies, as well as some 130 television shows; and a recipient of 15 Gold and Platinum records. He oversees the production and music for Saban Entertainment's "VR Troopers" and "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers(TM)." Levy was born and reared in Israel. Before teaming up with Haim Saban on American soil in 1980, Levy enjoyed seven extraordinarily successful years as a French television star, singer and songwriter. He sold more than eight million records worldwide and garnered the "Best Composer" Award at the 1974 Yamaha International Song Festival. Levy currently is completing the composition of what he calls his most ambitious project to date -- a musical opera based on the story of Masada, chronicling the Roman siege of the headquarters of a group of Jewish freedom fighters in the 1st Century. The following bio comes from an info sheet I received from Saban Entertainment: _Ronnie Hadar_ Ronnie Hadar, Senior Vice-President of Production, Saban Entertainment is the producer of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" and the executive in charge of production for both "Saban's VR Troopers" and Saban's hit series "Francine Pascal's Sweet Valley High". In 1986 Hadar produced the original pilot for the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" and joined Saban full time in 1991. He served as producer on the Fox Movie of the Week "Honor Thy Father and Mother: The Menendez Murders," starring Jill Clayburgh and James Farentino, and the NBC movie "Shadow of Obsession", starring Veronica Hamel, Jack Scalia, and Jonathan Banks.
