8.0 Monsters
The centerpiece of all the action in an episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
is, of course, the monster that either Finster creates for Rita or Lord Zedd
makes himself out of an idle object upon the Earth's surface. In any case, it
is a known fact that usually the monster can barely be handled by all five or
six Power Rangers prior to the introduction of the ThunderZords. Soon after
the usage of the ThunderSavor became old hat, the whole purpose in morphing was
to fight an endless mob of Putties.
Regardless, here is our list of monsters as see in Power Rangers.
8.1 First Season Monsters
Goldar
As seen in "Day of the Dumpster," Goldar is a recurring monster. See
section 3.2 for more information.
Bones
As seen in "High Five," Bones is a skeletal monster with the ability
to cause a time warp to trap the Power Rangers.
The Minotaur
As seen in "Teamwork," this monster is impervious to Zord attacks.
King Sphinx, Goldar
As seen in "A Pressing Engagement," King Sphinx has the ability to
transport and de-morph rangers away from himself.
Gnarly Gnome
From "Different Drum," Gnarly Gnome uses a musical accordion and/or
to curse its listeners with an evil spell that causes them to become zombies.
Pudgy Pig
From "Food Fight," Pudgy Pig has an enormous appetite and his mission
is to eat all the earth's food until there aren't anymore rations. He was
voiced by David Mallow
Chunky Chicken
As seen in "Big Sisters," his main purpose was to kidnap a child to
assist Rita in her evil plan to open the box containing morphing eggs which can
only be opened by the innocence of a child.
The Genie
From "Switching Places," he used a drill in zord combat and came from
a lamp that if destroyed too quickly would overload and destroy the morphing
grid.
Eye Guy
From "I, Eye Guy," his mission was to kidnap Billy's friend Willie to
extract his intelligence. He had a destructive central eye which was his main
source of power. Eye Guy was a monster whose body is surrounded by eyeballs.
Mr. Ticklesneezer
From "For Whom the Bell Trolls," Mr. Ticklesneezer was Trini's prized
doll who was kidnaped and grown to life size. Fundamentally, he has a kind
soul and was brainwashed into doing Rita's evil by using his collection bottle
to suck up everything, including the Power Rangers.
Nasty Knight
From "Happy Birthday, Zack" he had the ability to char any of the
Power Rangers' weapons.
Pineoctopus
Part pineapple, part octopus, he had to ability to drain away H20 to the human
body (particularly effective of Trini's niece) and turn anything into a
cardboard cutout. He was in the episode "No Clowning Around."
Terror Toad
From "Power Ranger Punks," he is a large toad with a hidden weak
spot. His task was to swallow down all the Power Rangers.
Madame Woe
From "Peace, Love and Woe," she has the ability to control the
weather using a special crystal. This character was voiced by Barbara Oliver.
Dark Warrior
From the episode named after him, Dark Warrior's primary purpose was to
interrogate Trini's uncle into giving him his invisibility potion for Rita.
The Slizzard
From "Foul Play in the Skies," The Slizzard used evil snakes to
immobilize the rangers.
Evil Green Ranger
Evil Green Ranger came from the "Green With Evil" mini-series. Rita
tries to out-match the rangers by creating an evil clone of them to do her
bidding and defeat the good rangers. For more information, see section
4.5.
Scorpina
Like Goldar, Scorpina is a recurring scorpion villain taking on the half
likeness of a female. Once big, she becomes an entirely scorpion mutant and
like Goldar will sneak out of a battle just before destruction. For more
information, see 3.6.
Shellshock
From "The Trouble With Shellshock," Shellshock could freeze material
objects and he freezes most of the Power Rangers, all using his magical traffic
light. Shellshock is a turtle.
Sleeping Moths, Slimey Spider
Both in "Itsy Bitsy Spider," The sleeping moths contained sleeping
powder which would put the rangers to sleep. Additionally, Rita created a
spider monster to destroy the world.
The Spit Flower
Bearing the episode title's name, the Spit Flower recycles flowers into bitting
bloomers. The Spit Flower would "spit" them at the rangers which
would cause them to get weak.
Frankenstein
From "Life's a Masquerade," Frankenstein's primary weapons were the
chains inside his head. He had no other purpose other than to serve as a
distraction for a much more diabolic plan Rita is brewing.
Super Putties, Titanus
From "Gung Ho!" the Super Putties are formed out of the super clay
Finster, the Putties, Squatt, Baboo and Goldar had been working to create in
the previous episode. The Super Putties are nearly indestructible. Once
"destroyed" by a weapon, they will simply fall into little chunks and
re-form to be an even bigger squad of Super Putties. Titanus, however, was a
seemingly evil villain. In the end, he turns out to be an additional zord
Zordon introduces.
Wheel of Destruction
From "Wheel of Misfortune," Kimberly's stolen spinning wheel is
transformed into a spiked weapon which can destroy anything it touches.
Lokar, Mutitis
From "Island of Illusion," Lokar is a recurring guest star (who was
lost with the beginning of the second season). Lokar is an interdimensional
being who appears in the sky and can cast various evil spells. Mutitis used an
evil foam to transport the rangers out of a zord fight and onto an evil island
of illusion.
The Rockstar
Named after the episode, The Rockstar shoots extraordinarily heavy rocks at its
opponent and his only purpose was to fight out the other half of a map leading
to the mirror of destruction that fell into the hands of Jason's cousin.
Samurai Fan Man
From "Calamity Kimberly," he has several weapons: one which is a jar
that entraps things and eventually warps them away to another dimension, and
another, which is a fan that can blow things away which he uses to keep the
rangers from rescuing Kimberly. Others include a spark-spitting rake, a
strong-staff and explosive wig pins.
Babe Ruthless, Silk Worm
In "A Star is Born," Scorpina's worm monster entraps the rangers in a
red cocoon to be sent off to sea. Babe Ruthless was created and sent down to
simply finish the job of destroying the rangers.
Fang
Fang comes from "The Yolk's On You." Out of sheer desperation, Fang
agrees to help Rita destroy the Power Rangers in exchange for Gooney Bird Eggs
which Baboo and Squatt ate.

them are impersonated by the Putties, TwinMan acts as Red Ranger. Once

Cyclopsis
From "Doomsday," Cyclopsis acts as Goldar's personal WarZord. He is
controlled by Lokar and is seemingly more powerful than the Power Rangers'
zords.
Pudgy Pig 2
From "A Pig Surprise," Pudgy Pig returns, but evidently, only as a
distraction. This Pudgy Pig is different from the original, for this one is
produced from an evil spell cursed over Bulk and Skull's pig. He has a good
heart and only wishes to be with the other pigs. Once again, he was voiced by
David Mallow.

neck and another on its belly.

Named after the episode title, Grumble Bee's specialty is to cause
disorientation through his sub-hypnotic buzzing.

secondary abilities were similar to King Sphinx; he had powerful wings.
The Lizzinator
From "Enter...The Lizzinator." This super strong Monster had the
unique capability to withstand weapon fire and impacts and also had immense
strength. This monster also had a tendency towards vandalism. Voiced by
David Mallow
Pumpkin Rapper
From "Trick or Treat," he's produced by several smelly pumpkins and
raps his way to through his intentions to destroy the Power Rangers.
Slippery Shark
From "On Fins and Needles," this shark hides underground and makes
quick attacks from the air. The effects of its fins caused Jason and Tommy to
fight each other to break the team spirit.
Soccerdillo
From "Second Chance," this rat-type monster balls up into a giant
soccer-like ball and makes his big attack in the form of a giant ball. In
soccer-ball form, he is impervious to all weapons.
Rhinoblaster, the Football Putties
From "Football Season," Rhinoblaster uses the Football putties to
tackle the rangers while he warps them into a Multi-Dimension vortex.

Trini's neighbor has been taken to.
Guitardo

levitation spell against the rangers and drain Tommy's power.
Turben Shell

with his special shell.
Dark Rangers
From "Green With Evil," this is the would-be evil plan of Lord Zedd's
in which he tries to pick some obnoxious teenagers to don his costumes and
combat against the Power Rangers. He tries to rekindle this plan again in
"The Ninja Encounter," but falls short when he is left with the new
kids Rocky, Adam, and Aisha, who he instead decides to brainwash into doing his
evil. Conclusively, the Dark Rangers never came into being, and Zedd is back to
sending monsters to do his evil.
PipeBrain
From "Missing Green," Zedd changes Jason's potential pipe trophy from
a karate tournament into an evil monster who guards Jason from getting into
his dark dimension, where Zedd's trying to take away the Rangers' powers.

Mirror Maniac Monster.
Nimrod, the Scarlet Sentinel
From "White Light," Zedd creates Nimrod, a statue monster who can
reproduce two other monsters.
Pursehead, Lipstick Monster
These monsters were created in "Two for One". Lipstick Monster had a
dangerous cosmetics device that could freeze White, Pink and Black Ranger.
Magnet Brain
In order to upset the balance of Earth's polarity and destroy the Thunder
MegaZord all at the same time, Lord Zedd creates Magnet Brain out of Billy's
experimental project in "Opposites Attract."
Halloween Monster
In "Zedd's Monster Mash," Lord Zedd creates Halloween Monster.
Terror Blossom
So that the Rangers wouldn't upset the delicate balance of his already fragile
schemes, Zedd creates the Terror Blossom to freeze Red, Black and Yellow
Rangers and perform the impossible: Resurrect the Hatchasaurus and Cardiotron.
Monster of Global Proportions
As seen in "A Monster of Global Proportions."
Beam Caster
To place Angel Grove's citizens under his control, Lord Zedd creates Beam
Caster in "Zedd Waves".
Serpentera
This Zord (with no explicable origins) was brought out to follow the Rangers to
the Deserted Planet to destroy it with the Rangers on it searching for the
Sword of Light. It is owned by Lord Zedd and often engineered by Goldar.
In Dairanger (where Serpentera comes from), its name is Daijinryuu.
SilverHorns
This monster was to attack the Power Rangers in "The Power Transfer,"
Part Two.
The Mirror of Regret
In order to get Adam down, Lord Zedd creates the Mirror of Regret (in the
episode named for him) to screen the downfalls of his life to cause him to lose
confidence in his abilities.
Skellerina
This monster came from "Mirror of Regret."
ScatterBrain
As featured in "When is a Ranger Not a Ranger?" ScatterBrain monster
was sent down to cause everyone to lose their memories.
PachinkoHead
While Lord Zedd casts a spell on Rocky to isolate his interests to merely
indulging himself, he also sends down PachinkoHead to convert the Rangers into
Pachinko Balls in "Rocky Just Wants to have Fun" (on cassette).
ShowBiz Monster
Created out of a TV soundstage camera, Lord Zedd releases the ShowBiz Monster
in "Lights, Camera, Action".
FlameHead
In "Where There's Smoke, There's Fire" Aisha takes on FlameHead,
whose purpose was to torch the city until the Power Rangers surrender.
CannonTop
CannonTop fought the Rangers as seen in "Scavenger Hunt".
Weldo, Evil Bookala
Weldo is sent to get the Power Rangers out of the way so Zedd can steal alien
Bookala's enchanted crystal to permanently fuel Serpentera. Once he fails to
obtain the crystal, Zedd then created an evil version of their friend Bookala.
Both monsters came from "The Great Bookala Escape".
Jaws of Destruction
With his intentions on carving his initials in the ThunderZord, this monster
was seen in "Forever Friends".
Tube Monster
As seen in "A Reel Fish Story".
PhotoBear
This horrid looking monster's specialty is to photograph objects and turn them
into images. Goldar and PhotoBear together capture the now pre-teen rangers on
film as seen in "Rangers Back In Time".
Three Giant Rats
As seen in "Return of the Green Ranger," these rodents are mutated
from being little rats to giant, 6 foot tall monsters.
Turkey Jerky
A gag monster of Bulk & Skull's goes afluke when Zedd turns it into a real
monster to keep the rangers from attempting to rescue their friends from a
storybook they've been trapped inside in "Storybook Rangers."
NeedleNose
In order to provide back-up to Goldar, Lord Zedd created out of Tommy's Cactus
Plant gift to Kimberly NeedleNose in "Wild West Rangers," who has
energy-draining cactus thorns he sparingly used on the Power Rangers.
SculptHead
Created out of Tommy's arts & crafts project, Lord Zedd made SculptHead to
take on the Rangers after his main plot failed him in "Blue Ranger Gone
Bad."
With the second season came ThunderZord and TigerZord footage. Because of the
fact "Power Rangers" ran out of "ZyuRanger" footage,
monsters from the "DaiRanger" are more commonly used. Now, all
stunts done in the "ZyuRanger" power costumes are U.S. produced.
That explains why there's never eye-to-eye combat between the rangers or the
monsters. Secondly, some "ZyuRanger" monsters were used in the
beginning of the second season. No eye-to-eye contact fighting was done
between the ThunderZords nor monsters because most monsters used in the second
season still came from "ZyuRanger."
8.3 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie Monsters
Before Rita became the one to lock Zordon away in his interdimensional time
warp, he fought Ivan Ooze. A very powerful creature that was locked away and
buried beneath the surface of the earth for 6,000 years until he was
resurrected. For further plot information, see section 10.2.
Once released, he began his plan to put Angel Grove's parents to work as his
slaves to unearth his Ectomorphicons--gigantic silver robot monsters.
These Ectomorphicons were Hornitor and Scorpitron. When the
fight got desperate, Ooze melded himself in with Scorpitron to fight the Ninja
Mega FalconZord in space.
8.4 Third Season Monsters
Rito Revolto
Rito, Rita's younger brother, came to the moon to help Zedd and Rita conquer
the Rangers and successfully dismembered the ThunderZords. He remains a
constant bad-guy like Goldar.
Repellitor
Finster's first monster in quite some time is sent down to conquer Earth while
the other Rangers, sans Kimberly, is fighting to protect a planet called
Edenoi. An ill Kimberly must combat Repellitor.
Vampirous
The hideous creation of Rito's was sent to the Temple of Ninja to destroy it
thereby ceasing the Ranger's new found powers but was stopped by not only
Ninjor but the Mega Ninja FalconZord. As seen in "Ninja Quest".
? [From "A Brush with Destiny"]
This monster was released from a painting Zedd and Rita stole. The idea to
create it came from a dream Kimberly had starring the monster from this
episode. Its powers allow him to rob things of color, causing their loss of
power. Kimberly had to rescue the Rangers as well as Ninjor from this monster
originating from her nightmare about moving away to france.
Lanterra
Adam's paper lantern was turned into a monster because Lord Zedd and Rita
thought it had special powers. However, when Adam learned the power was within
himself, he was about to destroy Lantera which turned out to be the wrong one
anyway. As seen in "Passing the Lantern."
Marvo the Meanie
Marvo, made out of Rocky's teacher (whom he switched places with at school),
was restored to his normal human form after a fight with the Ninja Ape Zord.
Centiback
An unintentional mix of Finster's centipede and Zedd's football produced this
monster who can turn anything into footballs. Centiback in turn turns Bulk,
Skull, Rocky's famous football player uncle and the rest of the Power Rangers
into footballs. Ninjor and Rocky were given special devices to reverse the
effects of the special spiked football the monster used; as seen in "Fourth
Down and Long."
Hate Master
This monster turns dirt and any other soil into hate dust which can cause any
creature to become filled with hatred and bitter feelings. The rangers fall
victim to it, leading Aisha to be the only uneffected ranger thanks to a love
necklace given to her by her grandmother. Aisha had to destroy the spell with
positive thoughts or the world would be destroyed (especially after Billy
hatefully created a mechanism that could shut off all the power to the Command
Center).
Miss Grief
Rito seemingly disobeys Rita and Zedd, who have taken a second honeymoon, and
sends down a monster with a love potion (which got Rita and Zedd married). It
makes everyone in Angel Grove fall in love with whoever they set eyes on
(conveniently always of the opposite gender), as seen in "The Potion
Notion."
Crabby Cabbie
Upon the theft of Kimberly's car, Kim tags along when Bulk and Skull take a
taxicab trying to catch the criminal. However, Rita and Zedd decide to turn
the car into the Crabbie Cabbie, a maniacal driver whose intent was to scramble
molecules to cause Bulk, Skull and Kimberly to be mixed together. From
"Follow that Cab!"
Garbage Mouth
This disgusting looking Trashcan monster is seen in "A Different Shade of
Pink".
Raventor
Not yet seen, this monster is sunk into Tommy's stomach and causes him to have
an unhealthy craving for too much junk food from "Rita's Pita."
Wall Monster
As seen in "Another Brick in the Wall," this monstrosity of a brick wall
attacks by turning people into bricks and feeds on building supplies. Kat
finds away to break down the Wall Monster's structural integrity.
Sinister Simian
Kat's pet chimpanzee, which she has been teaching sign language, is abducted
and turned into a monster chimp--the White Shogun Zord uses sign language to
calm the mutant.
Globbor
Master Vile, Rita's father, creates this monster capable of draining the energy
of its foe and taking on its special powers. (As seen in "Master Vile and
The Metallic Armor".
