MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS EPISODE GUIDE --Season Two-- Version 2.0 by Terri Ann C. Guingab (tguingab@vms1.gmu.edu) Last Modified: March 14, 1996 Herein lies the synopses for the 52 episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' Second Season. The format is similar to my Episode Guide for the First Season. Each synopsis follows the following format: 2##. (Title -- Note: the 2 means that it's a Season Two episode, not that there have been two hundred and whatever episodes. :]) (original airdate) Wr: (Writer) Di: (Director) Note: (Special Notes about the episode. Note that not all episodes have this) (synopsis) Special Thanks to Jeff Toschlog (toschlog@houston.geco-prakla.slb.com) for supplying the original airdates for these episodes. It may be freely transmitted in any format, as long as all headers remain intact, the entire text remains unaltered, and no fee is attached to said transmission (with the exception of service fees that commercial Internet providers charge for the use of their services). Sorry to get all serious and stuff, but... All character names are Copyright 1994-6 by Saban Entertainment. This document was created without their knowledge (or permission for that matter). While I strive for accuracy, mistakes will slip in 1) Because one can only watch so many hours of Power Rangers without feeling a strong urge to hit that fast forward button, 2) Because I haven't had any sleep for 3 days because my stupid Pharmocology test which I know I'm not ready for has kept me up at nights studying the pharmocokinetics of demerol, meperidine, naloxone...*sigh* You wouldn't understand. :) Enough of the legalese....let's jump in, shall we? 201. The Mutiny, pt. 1 (7-21-94) Wr: Shell Danielson, Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy Lord Zedd, Rita's boss, is upset by Rita's inability to conquer Earth. He resumes command, taking most of Rita's supporters with him. Back in control, he sends down new and improved putties and a new monster, Pirantishead, to destroy the Power Rangers. Meanwhile, our heroes are slowly but surely making their way through a charity ATV race. 202. The Mutiny, pt. 2 (7-29-94) Wr: Shell Danielson, Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy Pirantishead begins his assault on Angel Grove by taking over control of the Zords. With these, he launches an attack on the city and the Rangers. Zedd's spell is so powerful that Zordon decides to redesign the old Zords. To do that, though, the Rangers must first re-gain control of their Zords. 203. The Mutiny, pt. 3 (8-5-94) Wr: Shell Danielson, Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy Billy and Trini design a signal blocker that blocks Pirantishead's ability to control machines. With the Zords under the control of their true owners, Zordon upgrades each Dinozord into all-new, powerful Thunderzords. With these, the Rangers are able to defeat Pirhantished and give Zedd a headache of Rita-sized proportions. 204. Wanna-Be Ranger (9-13-94) Wr: Ellen Levy Sarnoff, Danny Sarnoff Di: John Stewart Due to a galactic imbalance caused by the linear alignment of the planets in our solar system, Zordon has to temporarily deionize. In other words, he has to go to the bathroom. Alpha sneaks out and runs across a lost boy and Primator, a monster Zedd creates out of Zack's ape suit. Primator has the ability to imitate any of the Rangers, and it'll take a few mirror tricks for Our Heroes to defeat this foe. 205. Putty on the Brain (9-14-94) Wr: Mark Litton Di: John Stewart Zack's new sunglasses are more trouble than they're worth when Zedd casts a spell over them. When Billy and Zack don the shades, they get, well, "Putty on the Brain". Translation -- the other Rangers, in non-morphed form, look like putties to them. With the Rangers confused about who's a friend and who's an enemy, Zedd sends down the Saliguana to destroy the Earth. 206. Bloom of Doom (9-17-94) Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: John Stewart Kim is "Green with Evil" when everyone joins Trini's volleyball club and not Kim's gardening club. Her jealousy is intensified when Zedd casts a spell over one of her plants. With Kimberly out of the way, Zedd sends down the Bloom of Doom to take out the Rangers. Zordon endows Kimberly with a Magical Killer Rhythm Gymnastics Ribbon(tm) to defeat the Bloom. 207. The Green Dream (9-19-94) Wr: Stewart St. John Di: John Stewart Note: Tommy's Sword of Power is intro'd Tommy's recurring nightmare about completely losing his powers is really starting to bug him. Of course, things get worse when he's kidnapped by Zedd and placed under a spell. Tommy tricks the others into summoning the Sword of Power (does anyone know where on earth _this_ came from?). He then hands the Sword over to Robogoat. After realizing the error of his ways, Tommy and the other Rangers trash the Goat, but at what price? 208. The Power Stealer (9-20-94) Wr: Tony Oliver, Barbara A. Oliver Di: Terence H. Winkless Note: Billy's Mirror shield is intro'd The Rangers hold yet another drive to clean up Angel Grove's pollution problem. Zedd sends down the Octophantom to do a Picasso on some of the park statues and the Rangers morph into action. One itty, bitty, teeny tiny little problem -- Cameras are rolling. Billy saves the day (Yay!) by using Octophantom's incredibly annoying vanity against himself. Only one more loose end to tie up -- a certain videotape. A bit of the old fashioned switcharoo takes care of that problem. 209. The Beetle Invasion (9-21-94) Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Terence H. Winkless Note: Richie is intro'd Our heroes are challenged to a game of broomball by Stone Canyon's undefeated Broomball Beetles. Zedd is inspired by the Beetles' promo poster. He sends down the Stag Beetle to absorb what little power Tommy has left. Tommy uses a special Green Power Transducer to draw his power back from the Beetle and save the day. 210. Welcome to Venus Island (9-24-94) Wr: Judd Lynn Di: Terence H. Winkless Trini and her friend Hallie are building sand castles at the beach with Tommy and Kimberly. While Trini is sighing over what it would be like for a Richie in shining white armor to save the day, Goldar kidnaps Hallie. He transports her over to Venus Island, an island that appears and disappears at Zedd's will. The Rangers make their way to Venus Island, but have to get past the Invenusable Flytrap to free Hallie. And yet again, a lack of Pepto Bismol saves the day. 211. The Song of Guitardo (9-26-94) Wr: Shell Danielson, Shuki Levy Di: Terence H. Winkless Kim and Zack are honing their song writing skills while the others prepare for a picnic in the park. Zedd sends down the Guitardo to steal Kim's guitar and use it to put the Rangers into a hypnotic trance. Kim and Tommy make sweet music together in order to break Guitardo's spell. 212. Green No More, pt. 1 (9-27-94) Wr: Stewart St. John Di: John Stewart Note: Curtis is intro'd Tommy receives a strange warning from...himself. His future self, that is. Angel Grove is also visited by five new fresh faces from out of town. Hmm, wonder who these 5 folks remind us of. After some minor attitude adjustments, Zedd transforms these 5 new teens into his own batch of Dark Rangers, but that's only a diversion from his real purpose...to use an evil Green Crystal to suck Tommy's powers away, and then use that power to destroy Zordon. To keep the Rangers busy, Zedd sends down Turban Shell, who separates Tommy from the others and speeds up Tommy's power loss. Zedd uses the crystal to seal the command center and trap the Rangers in The Other World. 213. Green No More, pt. 2 (9-28-94) Wr: Stewart St. John Di: John Stewart Tommy continues his battle with Turban Shell while Zordon and Alpha search for a way out of a shrinking force field that has enveloped the Command Center. Zedd, in a truly enlightened moment, sends the Rangers back down to earth sans morphers. Goldar sends Turban Shell to trash the city while he breaks down Tommy's confidence. The slide show ends up building his confidence, though, enough so that he wrestles the time device that controls passage in and out of The Other World. He also manages to capture and destroy the Green Crystal, rejoin his fellow Rangers, and do some major gastrointestinal damage to Turban Shell. It sadly becomes the Green Ranger's final battle, as his powers are completely spent in the battle with Turban Shell. 214. Missing Green (10-3-94) Wr: Ellen Levy Sarnoff, Danny Sarnoff Di: John Stewart Jason's guilt over not being able to save Tommy during the Green Candle days keeps him from concentrating on an upcoming karate tournament. Meanwhile, Zedd gloats over his latest plan -- Four other candles designed to suck away the Pink, Blue, Yellow, and Black Rangers' powers. Kim, Zack, Tommy, and Billy, knowing that Jason's guilt over Tommy is really getting to him, search for Tommy. Zedd captures them and lights their respective candles, drawing away their powers. Jason battles the Pipebrain Monster to gain entry into Zedd's Dimension of Doom. After defeating Goldar, Jason uses the Rangers' power coins to restore the candles and the other Rangers' powers. And, of course, Jason wins the Karate Contest. 215. Orchestral Maneuvers in the Park (10-4-94) Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Jerry Jacobs Note: Guest appearances by Stag Beetle, Grumble Bee, Mantis, Lizzinator, Fighting Flea, Soccadillo, and Slippery Shark Curtis stages a successful jazz concert using a trumpet Zack inherited from his uncle. Zedd steals the trumpet for a little Nightmare music. He transforms the horn into Trumpet Top, and the Rangers are placed under a spell that makes them believe that all of their old enemies have come back for another round. The Rangers will have to "face the music" if they want to get these silly love songs out of their heads. 216. Beauty and the Beast (10-10-94) Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: John Stewart Note: Billy finally gets to say "It's Morphin Time!" for the first time. There's nothing that's more cute and cuddly than an intergalactic dictator in love. With Tommy out of the way, Zedd puts the moves on Kim, who's off consulting other worldly spirits with the help of Madame Swampy. Goldar kidnaps Kimberly and uses his magic to transform her into Zedd's new evil empress. Excellent Rita impression, btw. To make sure the Rangers don't crash his wedding, Zedd transforms a mirror Tommy gave to Kim into the Mirror Maniac Monster. If the Rangers can't free Kim, they'll have more than seven years of bad luck to worry about. 217. White Light, pt. 1 (10-17-94) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Jonathan Tzachor Kim receives the good news that Tommy is coming home. Since things are peaceful, Zordon and Alpha disappear into a secret chamber. Zedd detects Zordon's disappearance and sees this as an opportunity to attack. He sends down Nimrod, the Scarlet Sentinel. Bulk and Skull find a certain familiar dumpster that has crash landed on Earth. While Bulk and Skull try to free the contents of the jar (namely, Rita), the Rangers search for Zordon. In the process, Billy discovers Zordon's secret project -- A new Ranger. 218. White Light, pt. 2 (10-18-94) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Jonathan Tzachor Billy informs the others of their potential new member while Zedd plans another attack. Zordon and Alpha reveal the identity of the new White Ranger, who just happens to be...Tommy! It's Christmas time for Tommy, apparently -- he receives Saba, the talking Saber, which controls the White Tigerzord. He is also handed the leadership of the Rangers, without any protest from Jason. Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull are just inches away from popping Rita's top. Mega Butt kicking time -- Billy and Trini repair the Zords; Jason, Kim and Zack fight the putties and prevent Bulk and Skull from Freeing Rita; and Tommy takes on Nimrod. 219. Two for One (10-24-94) Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Jerry Jacobs Note: First reappearance of Finster since Mutiny Kim and Tommy's date in the park is interrupted by a gang of purse snatching putties. Zedd uses the contents of Kim's purse to create Pursehead and Lipstick Monster, a pair of cosmetic creatures bent on giving Angel Grove a huge makeover. Someone should've told Zedd that he should never wear spring colors. 220. Opposites Attract (10-25-94) Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Jerry Jacobs Note: Laura is intro'd Billy is preparing an experiment involving magnets when he is introduced to Laura. Zedd uses Billy's machine to harness the power of a strong magnetic field that occurs in the universe only once every 100 years. Magnet Brain, Zedd's creation, tries to destroy the earth by messing up its polarity. At least the Rangers' IQs haven't changed -- I always send a huge, metal robot against a magnet monster. 221. Zedd's Monster Mash (10-28-94) Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Jerry P. Jacobs The Rangers are escorts for hundreds of other little Rangers on Halloween night. Zedd sends down his own gang of Ranger-wannabe Putty imposters to separate Tommy from the others. Zedd locks Tommy into the Dark Dimension with the help of the Gatekeeper where it's party time for a poop load of Zedd's monsters. Robogoat, Pumpkin Rapper, Primator, Invenusable Flytrap, Rhinoblaster, and the Slizzard are all invited to the dance by the Halloween Monster, a huge gravestone. This particular episode is a study in really, really confusing editing. 222. The Ninja Encounter, pt. 1 (11-2-94) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Shuki Levy There's a new kid in town...three, actually. After a rather pointless baby rescue sequence, Zedd kidnaps the three new teens, whose names are Adam, Rocky, and Aisha, and prepares them for his latest evil scheme -- the creation of three new evil Rangers. Will he ever learn from episodes like "Green No More I and II" and "Mighty Morphin Mutants"? 223. The Ninja Encounter, pt. 2 (11-3-94) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Shuki Levy Note: "Jetting" is intro'd Goldar is inches away from transforming the 3 teens into Evil Rangers. He calls forth the Snake of Destruction, whose bite can transform anyone into an evil creature. The new folks' attempt to break free fails miserably. To buy time, Zedd sends down the Terror Blossom, a creature that freezes anything it touches. Billy, Kimberly, and Tommy try to enter the Dark Dimension to attempt a rescue. However, Terror Blossom calls forth the Hatchasaurus to divert the Rangers' attention. 224. The Ninja Encounter, pt. 3 (11-4-94) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Shuki Levy Part Three starts out with a rather pointless, yet time consuming, diaper changing scene. At least we get to see the more "sensitive" side of Bulk and Skull. Meanwhile, the Rangers are trying to find out what to do about Jason, Trini and Zack, who have been frozen by the Terror Blossom's blossoms. Billy creates a cell based stimulator to unfreeze them. Back to action it is, and after the obligatory Zord battle, the Terror Blossom is destroyed. Zack and Jason finish off Terror Blossom while the others rescue Adam, Rocky, and Aisha. In the process, the Rangers' secret identity is revealed to Adam, Rocky, and Aisha. Oops. Of course, the three new folk are just as goody-goody as Our Original Heroes, so of course, their secret is safe. 225. A Monster of Global Proportions (11-5-94) Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Jerry P. Jacobs Angel Grove hosts a little get together with teen peace ambassadors from around the world. To celebrate the event, Angel Grove High School's Art Club donates a Four Headed statue to symbolize the conference. Whatever. Zedd kidnaps the ambassadors and demands the Rangers' power coins in return. Well, at least Our Heroes learned some lessons from "Return of an Old Friend, pt. 1". Zedd steals the statue and creates--you guessed it: A Monster of Global Proportions -- The Four Head Monster. Yes, someone forgot to pass the LSD out to the Writing team...these names are getting more and more uncreative. Okay, editorial mode off. If Billy can keep his goo-goo eyes off of Tamara long enough, they just might have a chance against Four Head. 226. Zedd Waves (11-7-94) Wr: Mark Litton Di: Jerry P. Jacobs Zedd constructs the powerful Beam Caster -- a radio monster who can send out "Zedd Waves". The Zedd Waves hypnotize Angel Grove, including our Heroes, into worshiping Lord Zedd. It'll take our new friends' teamwork, and Aisha's convenient broadcasting knowledge to save the world. 227. The Power Transfer, pt. 1 (11-8-94) Wr: Judd Lynn Di: Jonathan Tzachor Note: Tor, the Carrier Zord, is intro'd Jason, Trini, and Zack are chosen to represent the USA in the World Teen Summit. One itty bitty problem -- that reduces the team to half its size. Zordon searches for three new Rangers to replace them. However, to transfer power, Our Original Heroes must go on one final mission to retrieve the Sword of Light from the Deserted Planet. Oh yeah, one more problem -- Serpentera, Zedd's new, massive and extremely dangerous Zord. Since Zedd doesn't want to leave Angel Grove without some terror to make the six o'clock news, he instructs Baboo and Squatt to release the Sleep Machine. It sends out a poisonous sleep gas that knocks (almost) everyone out, making it tougher for Zordon to find replacements. Gee, good thing Adam, Aisha, and Rocky weren't affected. 228. The Power Transfer, pt. 2 (11-9-94) Wr: Judd Lynn Di: Jonathan Tzachor Adam, Rocky, and Aisha are slightly tied up at the moment and the sleep cloud is heading their way. Adam pulls a Roberto Baggio to break free and destroy the sleep machine. As Andreas Cantor would say -- GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! The Rangers retrieve the Sword and barely escape as Zedd destroys the entire Planet. Back on Earth, the transfer is carried out, and voila', we have new Rangers! Serpentera used most of its energy to destroy the planet, so as it charges up, Zedd sends down Silverhorns to test Our New Heroes. A Ranger's work is never done. 229. Goldar's Vice Versa (11-12-94) Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Terence H. Winkless It's time for the Sadie Hawkins Dance and love is in the air for everyone...except Adam. Things change when the girl of his dreams appears. It's just a little too good to be true when the love of Adam's life turns out to have a rather stinging attitude. Excellent Scorpina look alike, btw. 230. Mirror of Regret (11-14-94) Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Terence H. Winkless Note: Power Cannon is intro'd One of Adam's less than stellar students brings back memories of his own days of insecurities. Those insecurities come back even stronger when he looks into Goldar's Mirror of Regret. To save the day, Adam will have to forget about being the last one picked for the basketball team and take on Skellerina...a killer hyena skeleton. 231. When is a Ranger Not a Ranger? (11-15-94) Wr: Judd Lynn Di: Jonathan Tzachor Goldar steals Adam's kaleidescope so that Zedd can create the Scatterbrain Monster. Scatterbrain has the ability to, well, Scatter the Rangers' brains to a point where they don't even remember who they are. Luckily, Bulk and Skull are there to save the day. Did I just say that? Prisms? We don't need no stinkin' prisms. 232. Rocky Just Wants to Have Fun (11-16-94) Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Terence H. Winkless Zedd casts yet another plot device, er, spell. This time it's on Ernie's new Pachinko machine, causing Rocky to think of nothing but having fun. What's worse, Zedd transforms the machine into...guess. Just guess. It's not that difficult. If you said "Pachinko Head", you get a gold star. Pachinko Head turns the other Rangers into Pachinko balls. Zordon and Alpha are successful in getting Our Heroes out of that little predicament, and the rest...well, you figure it out. 233. Lights, Camera, Action (11-17-94) Wr: Daniel Sarnoff, Ellen Levy Sarnoff Di: Terence H. Winkless The Rangers are invited to appear on a television talk show. In the interest of equal air time, Zedd transforms one of the t.v. cameras into Showbiz Monster. With the help of Tor, Our Heroes kill enough time before we discover that Zedd obviously doesn't put Energizer batteries in his Serpentera Zord. Sheesh Zedd, if you're that desperate for air time, go on Ricki or something. I'm sure she's looking for guests to appear on her "Universal Dictators and the teen-aged superheroes who thwart their plans" show. 234. Where There's Smoke, There's Fire (11-21-94) Wr: Jerry P. Jacobs Di: John Stewart Aisha is appointed Fire Safety Captain for Angel Grove. Zedd goes into pyromania mode and sends down Flamehead Monster to torch Angel Grove. Fire Marshall Aisha takes things a wee bit too far and tries to take Flamehead on by herself. The moral of this story...put gel on _after_ you've curled. 235. Scavenger Hunt (11-22-94) Wr: Stewart St. John Di: John Stewart The gang are off on a scavenger hunt. Zedd has plans for his own little game -- he sends the Rangers to the Lost Universe and sends Goldar down to steal some inspiration for Zedd's latest creation -- Cannontop. 236. The Great Bookala Escape (11-23-94) Wr: Judd Lynn Di: John Stewart They're heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere. Well, sort of. Angel Grove is visited by an intergalactic traveler, the Bookala. Bookala's Diamond Power Source is the object of Zedd's desires today, and he won't let any Power Rangers get in his way (as per usual). The Rangers pull another switcheroo to ensure Bookala's safety. Zedd sends down Weldo to retrieve the Lightning Diamond. Billy trashes Weldo, Zedd creates an evil Bookala for no other reason than to pad out the rest of the show, the Rangers reign triumphant, and there is much rejoicing. 237. Forever Friends (11-28-94) Wr: Cheryl Saban Di: Terence H. Winkless Well, aren't we a little jealous today (snap). Aisha's friend Shanna is visiting from Stone Canyon to compete against Kim in a gymnastics tournament. Meanwhile, the boys are honing their ashtray making skills in Shop. Zedd sends down the Jaws of Destruction to try and break up the team. After some poignant scenes and too-close close-ups, Our Heroes break free from the Jaws and free Kim and Shanna. And, of course, in the ultimate in cheezoid endings, Kim and Shanna tie. 238. A Reel Fish Story (11-29-94) Wr: Ellen Sarnoff, Douglas Sloan Di: Terence H. Winkless It's a return engagement for all the Rangers' fishy foes when Zedd sends down Slippery Shark, Pirantishead, the Toxic Goo Fish, and Commander Crayfish to Angel Grove. When it becomes obvious why the Rangers beat those fishy foes the first time around, Zedd turns a giant inner tube into a giant inner tube monster called..."Tube Monster. If you're in the mood for major stock footage and bad seafood puns, this is the episode for you. 239. Rangers Back in Time, pt. 1 (2-4-95) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless It's a trip down memory lane, literally, when Zedd turns back the hands of time, transforming Our Heroes into Mighty Munchkin Power Rugrats. To make sure the Rangers never get into his "hair" again, he creates Photomare, a giant InstaCam monster. The monster imprisons Our Heroes in a Polaroid Picture. 240. Rangers Back in Time, pt. 2 (2-11-95) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless Mini-Bulk and Mini-Skull steal the picture that Photobear took of our Heroes and take it back to Angel Grove High School. Why 7 years olds would be in high school is beyond me, but oh well. Alpha successfully retrieves the picture and ages Our Heroes back to where they're supposed to be. Obligatory stock footage battle ensues, everything goes back to normal, we can all sleep well tonight. 241. The Wedding, pt. 1 (2-13-95) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Shuki Levy Note: Guest Appearances by Dramomonster, Eye Guy, Grumble Bee, Hatchasaurus, Invenusable Flytrap, Lizzinator, Robogoat, Saliguana, and Soccadillo. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! After Seven Months I'm Free!!! It's time to conquer Zedd's Heart! Rita has concocted the ultimate plan that will lead her to total universal domination. All she has to do is wait for Zedd to wake up from his nap. Since things are relatively quiet, Our Heroes get the opportunity of a lifetime...a vacation in the Land Down Under. Along for the ride are Bulk and Skull, who are just dying to fake really bad Aussie accents and mingle with the 'roos. Back on the moon, Finster creates a love potion that makes Zedd fall in love with Rita. She also sends Finster down to Earth to reprogram Alpha, who's left the Command Center to stop and smell the roses. And yea, though we adult Power Rangers fans were tortured with months of really bad enemies endowed with names even an infant could create, and though the plots, while they are supposed to be predictably predictable, have been nauseatingly so, the Almighty hath blessed us with...Evil Alpha. And there was much rejoicing. Evil Alpha takes command of the Command Center, disables Zordon's ability to communicate to the Rangers, and then sends them off to an abandoned theatre, which doubles as an interdimensional vortex that nullifies the Rangers' powers. 242. The Wedding, pt. 2 (2-14-95) Wr: Shell Danielson, Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy The wedding is moving along right on schedule, with the Rangers, who apparently have become Rita's dowry for Zedd, fighting pretty much every single monster that has ever appeared in an episode of Power Rangers. They eventually escape out the back door, and it's Obligatory Stock Footage Battle(tm) Time! With the help of Evil Alpha, Our Heroes are transported back into the abandoned theatre/vortex, where they basically have to start from square one. Meanwhile, Goldar searches for a way to stop Zedd and Rita's wedding. Maybe it's because he's jealous that Zedd has a new honey, or maybe it's the fact that he overhears Rita's little plan to knock Zedd out of the way so she can take the universe for herself...I don't know. 243. The Wedding, pt. 3 (2-15-95) Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Shuki Levy Here comes the bride, all dressed in Madonna cones! The wedding of the milennia goes off without a hitch, followed by the reception of the milennia (or the acid trip of the century...you decide). Meanwhile, Our Heroes use a rather conveniently placed net (now, just where on earth did they get _that_ from?) to escape the theatre for the second time around. Once free from there, they make a dash for the Command Center, which just happens to be a hop, skip, and a jump away from the theatre. After removing Alpha's new programming (Waaaaah! I liked Evil Alpha!), the Rangers are able to get their Zords back on line, kick butt, and ruin Zedd and Rita's honeymoon. 244. Return of the Green Ranger, pt. 1 (2-20-95) Wr: Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy As the Rangers ponder what periods in the past they'd prefer to peruse, Zedd wonders just why in the heck he decided to marry Rita. He coerces his new hunnybunny into consulting the Ghost of Darkness on how to destroy the Power Rangers. The Ghost conjures up the Wizard of Deception, who has the capability to create powerful illusions. The Wizard clips a lock of Tommy's hair and clones another Ranger...the Green Ranger, in fact. The Wizard then sends everyone except Tommy back to Angel Grove's Colonial days. 245. Return of the Green Ranger, pt. 2 (2-21-95) Wr: Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy The Rangers are on the run, being chased through the streets of 18th century Angel Grove by Redcoats who believe Our Heroes are witches. Thanks to a sympathetic (and strangely Aussie sounding) lass named Marissa, Our Heroes make their way to Ben Franklin's farm. Yes, someone obviously slept through their American History class. While Adam is making goo-goo eyes at Marissa, Tommy (back in the present) is preparing for the battle of the century -- the Green Ranger vs. the White Ranger. And, back at the alternate time-line that not even a ret-con of X-men sized proportions can explain, the Wizard transforms three friendly rats into three really big people in obviously fake rat costumes. 246. Return of the Green Ranger, pt. 3 (2-22-95) Wr: Shuki Levy Di: Shuki Levy Those Fuzzy Foes are on a major cheese binge, ravaging the town in their quest. The battle between the White and Green Ranger continues, but in the middle of it, Tommy is able to trick Evil Tommy into revealing the location of the rest of Our Heroes. Tommy steals the Wizard's wand and sends himself back to previously mentioned AT-LTNEAR-COX-MSPCE. After bringing Our Heroes back to the future, we get to witness the obligatory Zord butt kicking sequence. Tommy and Evil, well, Not-evil-now Tommy go back to the past to do a bit of extermination. Not-evil-now Tommy decides AT-LTNEAR-COX-MSPCE aren't such a bad place to live, so he stays. And luckily, for Adam, Marissa's great-great-great-great-great- great-great-great-great granddaughter conveniently drops her books into his lap. 247. Best Man for the Job (4-29-95) Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: John Weil Student elections, plus a little of Rita's magic, turn things a little sour for lovebirds Tommy and Kimberly. If they don't stop to smell the roses, they may lose Saba, the White Tigerzord, the Angel Grove High School Student Presidency, and each other. 248. Storybook Rangers, pt. 1 (5-1-95) Wr: Douglas Sloan, Cheryl Saban Di: John Weil Special Guest Stars: The costumes of Mr. Ticklesneezer, Primator, and Pudgy Pig. Well, it's nice to know Saban recycles. :) I've finally seen this episode!!! It only took 5 months to catch the re-run this time around, a new record for me. Anyway...Angel Grove High School is funding a book fair, and amongst the stacks and stacks of used books is everyone's childhood favorite, "Grumble the Magic Elf". Zedd and Rita traps Kim, Tommy, and Rocky within the pages of said childhood "classic" (what, you mean your parents didn't read "Grumble the Magic Elf" to you when you were a kidlet?). To escape, our literary heroes will have to help Grumpy Grumble deliver toys to a group of children. Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull try their hand at monster-making. Zedd would definitely *not* be proud. Special thanks to Arlen Hartounian (hartouni@monte.mvhs.srvusd.k12.ca.us) for providing the substitute description that used to be here (before I got the chance to watch this episode for myself). 249. Storybook Rangers, pt. 2 (5-2-95) Wr: Douglas Sloan, Cheryl Saban Di: John Weil Tommy, Kimberly, and Adam's adventures in story book land continue as they search out the evil wizard who made Grumble so Grumpy. Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull's rather pitiful attempts at parenthood bring forth an evil, menacing, gigantic...turkey monster. Can we say "Pudgy Pig's old body with a turkey head attached"? It's alive...alive! with a little help of Rita and Zedd's magic. After the Rangers bake at 450 until the juices run clear, Aisha uses her artistic skills (I knew she had to be good for *something*) to return Grumble's toys to the children, giving the story a happy ending. That is, until Rita and Zedd bring the Wizard into Angel Grove. Standard battle ensues, ho hum. 250. Wild West Rangers, pt. 1 (5-8-95) Wr: Mark Litton Di: Armand Garabidian Through a conveniently placed rip in the fabric of time, Kimberly is transported to Angel Grove, ca. 1880. There, she comes across the Great Great Great Grandparents of our favorite teenage gang. Zedd uses aforementioned rip in the fabric of time to send back Needlenose -- a monster he creates out of Tommy's cactus plant. If Needlenose and Goldar are successful in destroying the Angel Grove of the past, we can kiss the Angel Grove of the present goodbye...and wouldn't that just be icky. 251. Wild West Rangers, pt. 2 (5-9-95) Wr: Mark Litton Di: Armand Garabidian Kim faces Rita and Zedd's minions in a Wild West Showdown. Unfortunately, 20 to 1 aren't very good odds, even in morphed mode. She teleports over to the Old West version of Zordon's Command Center for backup. With the help of the Power Coins, and a crash course in "How to Be a Power Ranger in Five Easy Lessons", the old timers run those varmints out of town. And, just because the Zords had to be involved in the story somehow, Needlenose returns to the 90's only to be trounced by the present-day Rangers. 252. Blue Ranger Gone Bad (5-20-95) Wr: Judd Lynn Di: John Weil As Our Heroes desperately try to get in touch with their more creative side, Rita devises a plot to create an evil Blue Ranger twin to stir things up in Angel Grove. With the help of some fancy mirrors, Billy is able to foil Rita's plans and save the day (again!). Oh yeah, and he finds another girlfriend. Yay. :I [Special Note: The next three episodes actually aired in September 1995, at the beginning of what could be considered the Third Season. However, the numbers end up being a much nicer, rounder figure if I include them in here. Besides, the meat of the Third Season doesn't really start until Ninja Quest, so...] 253. A Friend in Need, part 1 OAD: September 2, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Worth Keeter Ai yi yi yi yi! Alpha's just received a distress call from his home planet of Edenoi. The Rangers (minus a flu-stricken Kimberly) take an interplanetary vacation to Edenoi. After all, poison gas cultivated by Count Dregon's Edenoid slaves just happens to be in season at the mo'. While investigating, Our Heroes cross the path of a Mysterious Stranger(tm). 254. A Friend in Need, part 2 OAD: September 9, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Worth Keeter Special Note: The Silverhorns costume was repainted to create Repellator Well, let's all get acquainted, shall we? Masked Rider, meet the Rangers, Rangers, meet your new spin-off series. Dregon sends down a variety of nasties to complicate the getting-to-know-you ceremonies. Back on Earth, Finster releases Silverho...er, Repellator. It's up to Kim and her sniffles to save the day. 255. A Friend in Need, part 3 OAD: September 9, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Worth Keeter Obviously, Repellator didn't get his flu shot this year. The end is near for a spandex-clad Bulk and Skull. Luckily, the battle on Edenoi was just about ready to finish up. The Rangers take out Silv...er...Repellator (darnit, I just can't get that out of my mind) and all is well and good again in crossover country. ========== Mighty Morphin Power PSA's!!!! Of course, no season of MMPR would be complete without a new set of MMPR Public Service Announcements. Of the ones that have been shown so far, only one ("Safety") has been given a title. Therefore, just as I did with the first season's Episode Guide, I'm going to make up titles of my own. In keeping with the spirit of this season's writing, I shall try to make these titles as undescriptive and as thoroughly boring as possible. :] "Bullies" Well, don't we have a bit of a 'tude today. The 7th grade bully is at it again, getting his kicks by torturing the young'uns. That is, of course, until he runs into the 8th grade bully. Luckily, the 8th grade bully has a heart of gold, and our tortured protagonist is spared the ultimate humiliation of a whuppin'. Adam and Rocky are there to reinforce the morality lesson of the day -- Don't fight. "Confidence" Airballs galore, eh? Well, according to Tommy, Adam, and Rocky (or, people just hanging around in their suits), keep trying. Persistence, practice, practice, practice, and hallucinations of Power Rangers will ultimately lead to Chris Webber-dom. "Crossed Chickens" (special thanks go to Li-Ming Fong for reminding me about this little gem) Rubber Chickens -- Fun and Educational. Keen. Billy tries to show a gang of kidlets all the cool things one can do with a rubber chicken and a 30 million dollar molecular scrambler (tm). But, wires get crossed a bit, and Billy gets sent off to some unknown dimension with nothing to defend him but said rubber chicken. Thanks to the Pink Ranger, and a little honesty from the geeklet who messed Billy's multi-million dollar machine up in the first place, our dearly beloved Blue beau comes back home safe and sound. "Every 'Lil Bit Helps" Do you want to save the world? Sure, we all do! All you have to do is morph into a Power Ranger and...oops...guess that only works on t.v. Despite the fact that we can't participate in the battles between intergalactic entities, we can all do our part to save the world, even if it involves something as little as curling before you gel. "I'm an actor" ...And I play one on t.v. Bulk and Skull...oops, Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy, explain to a few munchkins the difference between their characters and themselves. "Safety" Tommy runs through some of the basics about karate safety in this PSA. Basically, imagine the Mighty Morphin' Karate Club Video condensed down into a 30 second PSA. Because it's really important for kids out there to get the message of this particular PSA, I'll repeat some of the highlights here: 1) If you're going to practice karate, do it in an area that doesn't have anything that could hurt you, like lamps, furniture, etc. If you can, try to practice in a karate school. 2) Never try any karate moves unless there is an adult watching you. 3) Never, EVER do any karate moves while in school. Not only could you hurt someone, but you could also drum up a lot of publicity about how violent the show supposedly is, causing Fox to cancel the show and depriving us adults of the show we all know and love. "Smoking" Well, it's simple -- Don't smoke. Apart from causing cancerous growths in your lungs, which will ultimately lead to tissue necrosis and decreased lung capacity, and the potential risk for cardiovascular accidents, temporary ischemic attacks, angina, hypertension, cardiovascular arrest, decreased peripheral oxygen perfusion, yellowing of the dental enamel, emphysema...can you tell I'm a nursing student?...and all the other fun stuff that comes along with smoking, you won't get to snag all the "cool" boys on the playground. ========== THE POWER PROMISES!!! These are a set of 5 promises Junior Power Rangers are supposed to make. Whatever. They air at the beginning of each MMPR episode (so now you'll have to extend your viewing to not only the minute or two after an episode, but the minute or two before as well. Oh well, at least you can catch the tail-end of Animaniacs). As a Junior Power Ranger, you should promise to have the following qualities: 1) Self Discipline 2) Self Control 3) Teamwork 4) Good Sportsmanship 5) Actually, this one didn't have a title, but basically, try to solve problems without fighting. ========== And that's it (for now)! Questions, Comments, Spelling corrections, etc. should be directed to tguingab@vms1.gmu.edu. Smile!
