Yup, had to do that boring legal stuff again. :I Welcome to the Third Season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! Some of you may already be familiar with my other Power Rangers-related work, including the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Frequently Asked Questions File (who knew I would still be working on the thing nearly a year and a half after its birth?), The First and Second Season Episode Guides for Power Rangers, and also the Power Rangers Cultural References Guide. If you aren't familiar with the above work -- Shame on you! March yourselves right now to your web browsers, and take a looksy at them (they're located at http://osf1.gmu.edu/~tguingab/power -- and that's a number "one" in osf1, not the letter "L"). Or, if you don't have Web access, e- mail me at tguingab@osf1.gmu.edu or tguingab@vms1.gmu.edu (again, that's a number "one", not the letter "L") to request a copy. As per usual with my Episode Guides, the format will stay more or less the same: 3XX. [Title] OAD: [Original Air Date] Wr: [Writer] Di: [Director] Special Notes: [Uhhh, special notes, I think] [Synopsis] Note that the number 3 at the beginning of the title line denotes that the episode is a third season episode; not that there have been 300 or so episodes of Power Rangers. The XX is actually what will refer to the number of the episode. For a background information about the show "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers", I refer the reader to my MMPR FAQ, entitled "Almost Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Power Rangers But Were Too Afraid to Ask" (say that three times fast). These episode descriptions may seem somewhat sketchy because for the most part, each episode follows the same format: Teenaged real-life problem gets complicated when a monster invades Angel Grove, teens morph into Rangers and use all their cool Zords and powers to save the day, real-life problem amazingly resolved by the end of the day. Geez, what a boring life! Enough of the added boring stuff, let's begin, shall we? 301. Ninja Quest, part 1 OAD: September 11, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless Special Notes: Ernie's new outdoor cafe is intro'd. Special guests include Octophantom, Fighting Flea, Stag Beetle, Lizzinator. Rito Revolto is intro'd. A friendly game of volleyball is interrupted by the arrival of Season Three's "Villain in the Spotlight" -- Rito Revolto. Zedd and Rita order Rito (who happens to be Rita Repulsa's brother) to take out the Rangers with a contingent of their "best" monsters. With the help of flash pots and sparklers galore, the Thunderzords and the Rangers' powers are no more. 302. Ninja Quest, part 2 OAD: September 12, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless Special Notes: The Tenga Warriors are intro'd. The Zords destroyed, the Command Center fried, and their powers depleted, the Rangers take a long walk back to the Command Center to regroup and find any bit of good news. Their only hope lies in the Desert of Despair where Ninjor, Keeper of the Lost Temple, resides. After dealings with quicksand, rings of fire, and the occasional battle with Tenga (Rito's hatchlings), the Rangers discover the Lost Temple. Good thing we have Bulk and Skull to keep things light with their best Steve Gutenberg impressions. 303. Ninja Quest, part 3 OAD: September 13, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless Special Notes: Ninjor, Ninja Zords, Ninja Megazord and Ninja Mega Falconzord are intro'd. WAAAAH! Skull's lovely, black locks are no more! His hair has fallen victim to the pure evil that is a barber! I can't go on...I just can't. How can I live in a world without Skull's gorgeous hair, playfully brushing against his dog collar and/or neckerchief? *whimper* I need a moment to myself...I...I'm sorry... Oh yeah, the Rangers find Ninjor, they get their new powers and Zords, and Rito attacks the city. (*sob*) 304. Ninja Quest, part 4 OAD: September 14, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless Special Notes: Bulk and Skull begin their stint as Junior Police Patrol Officers. Ninjor's warrior mode is intro'd. You know, I still don't think I've recovered from watching Skull's lovely locks go buh-bye (*sniff*). The Rangers take on Rito and win, but the war isn't over yet. Vampirus, hatched from one of Rito's eggs, attacks the Temple. He's driven batty by Ninjor, the Rangers join in the fun, bottoms are kicked, and yes, Virginia, all is well and good in Angel Grove again. 305. A Brush with Destiny OAD: September 18, 1995 Wr: Gilles Wheeler Di: Terence H. Winkless Kim's mother is about to marry a French painter, and the soon- to-be family may move to the City of Lights. Finster turns Kim's nightmares of body odor, snotty attitudes, and rock hard bread into a reality; the result is Artist Mole. The Rangers will have to stop this new threat if they want the little color in their cheeks back. 306. Passing the Lantern OAD: September 19, 1995 Wr: Kati Rocky Di: Armand Garabidian Adam is entrusted with an ancient lantern at a family reunion. Rito, while trying to steal the latern, ends up with everything *but* Adam's prized possession. No matter, Zedd and Rita create Lantera out of the stolen lanterns and send him down to light up the Rangers lives. 307. Wizard for a Day OAD: September 20, 1995 Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Armand Garabidian Special Notes: It is revealed that Billy is now a Red Belt. Mr. Wilton is intro'd. Rocky tries his hand at teaching a chemistry class, while his science teacher, Mr. Wilton, tries to fit in with the marvy teen scene. To make Mr. Wilton's day worse, he is accidentally transformed into Marvel the Meanie. Can the Rangers save Mr. Wilton and still get an A in his class? 308. Fourth Down and Long OAD: September 23, 1995 Wr: Mark Litton Di: Armand Garabidian Rocky's uncle, a famous football player, is scheduled for a talk with Angel Grove High School's football team. But Alan, Rocky's friend, can't go if he flunks chemistry. With the help of Ninjor and some magic buckets, the Red Ranger successfully fights off the attacks of Finster's latest creation -- Centerback (a half football player, half centipede monster). And guess what? (dripping sarcasm mode /on) Alan has dyslexia but what's most important for kids to know after watching this episode is that he can still play football! Yay! (dripping sarcasm mode /off...well, partially /off) 309. Stop the Hate Master, part 1 OAD: September 25, 1995 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Bob Radler Aisha is bummed out because her family doesn't make enough money to qualify her for entry into the Angel Girl's Snotfest..er, Club. Meanwhile, The Hate Master is busy using his evil dust and terrible raps to turn the Rangers against each other. 310. Stop the Hate Master, part 2 OAD: September 26, 1995 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Bob Radley Special Notes: Titanus returns! Billy locks Aisha inside of the Command Center by cutting off its main power source. She'll have to think happy thoughts in order to break the Hate Master's evil spell over the Rangers. 311. Final Face-Off OAD: October 2, 1995 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Armand Garabidian The Rangers are doing the museum thing by studying the country of Kahmala and its history of mask making. Rita frees the Face Stealer from one of the display's urns. The Rangers, with their knowledge of Kahmalan folklore and a few "borrowed" masks, stop the Stealer from giving Angel Grove a major face lift. 312. The Potion Notion OAD: October 9, 1995 Wr: Jackie Marchand Di: Bob Radler Has anyone ever told you you have the most beautiful eyes? Love is in the air, thanks to Miss Chief and her Magic Love-Bubble Blower(tm). The soft and squishiness is too much for Goldar. He orders Finster to create an antidote to the potion that's turned Angel Grove into a love fest. But Aycheedubbletoothpicks hath no fury like a Miss Chief scorned, so the Rangers are called into action once again. 313. A Ranger Catastrophe, part 1 OAD: October 16, 1995 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Douglas Sloan Special Note: Catherine Sutherland debuts in the role of "Kat" (Katherine Hillard) Aisha's new kitty cat isn't all she seems. This furry feline has the power to transform into a mysterious Aussie blonde named Kat. Kat, working for Rita, uses her feline and feminine ways to lure Tommy into a warp zone. 314. A Ranger Catastrophe, part 2 OAD: October 17, 1995 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Douglas Sloan Talk about being knee deep in kitty litter. Not only is Tommy battling Goldar in an unreachable warp zone, but now Kat (in monster form) and Rito are trashing Angel Grove. After freeing Tommy, the Rangers force Rito and Kat to retreat. And when it's all over the teens make a new friend in Kat...or do they? 315. Changing of the Zords, part 1 OAD: October 31, 1995 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Jonathan Tzachor The hidden location of the ancient Shogunzords is revealed to Lord Zedd. But to control said Zords, he'll need a power source -- A kidnapped Ninjor comes in handy for this. He also needs to take away the Rangers ability to control the Ninja Zords. Taking away the Falconzord ought to do the trick. But he'll need a to gain control of the Falconzord by getting his hand on a Power Coin. No problem! After all, that's what cats are for, no? Isn't being an intergalactic dictator easy? 316. Changing of the Zords, part 2 OAD: November 1, 1995 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Jonathan Tzachor The Incisorator puts a little more bite in the Rangers' lives. Kim, in a weakened state, holds back until her "friend" Kat appears to be attacked by Tengas. Saving the day is too much for Kim, and she's captured by Goldar. Zedd makes an offer the Rangers can't refuse -- pilot Zedd's new Shogunzords or watch Kim's life force completely drain away. 317. Changing of the Zords, part 3 OAD: November 2, 1995 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Jonathan Tzachor Special Note: The monster du jour was not given a name in this episode. However, in "The Alien Rangers of Aquitar, part 1", we discover that the monster's name is in fact See Monster. After a battle with Zedd, Tommy frees Kimberly. Rita sends down See Monster to make the Rangers' lives just that much more interesting. Billy hotwires the Shogunzords, bringing them under the Rangers' control. After the obligatory butt-stomping sequence, Kimberly's connection to her coin is severed, ending the drain on her powers. With a little help (and some energy) from her friends, Kim returns to fighting form. 318. Follow That Cab! OAD: November 4, 1995 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Terence H. Winkless Special Note: Shark Cycles are intro'd (special thanks to vandoper@river.it.gvsu.edu for clearing up this error.) Kim is too excited about the appearance of world famous gymnastics coach Gunthar Schmidt to notice her car is being stolen. Bulk and Skull comandeer a taxi cab and with Kimberly in tow, set off to chase the car snatching crook. And just 'cause it's what intergalactic dictators do best, Zedd transforms the cab (with Our Heroes still in it) into Crabby Cabby. Fasten your seat belts, kids, you're in for a bumpy ride! 319. A Different Shade of Pink, part 1 OAD: November 6, 1995 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Bob Radler It's over time for Kimberly (in more ways than one). Not only is she working double time to qualify for the Pan Global Games, but now Rita and Zedd have tripled their attacks on Earth. She falls underneath all the pressure. Luckily, Kat (who might not be so bad after all) has been keeping her eye on Kim through out the entire ordeal. 320. A Different Shade of Pink, part 2 OAD: November 7, 1995 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Bob Radler Kat's selfless act breaks the evil spell that made her Rita's slave. She realizes the error of her ways and befriends the Rangers, this time for real. A furious Zedd and Rita send down Garbage Mouth to destroy the city, a monster that is quickly taken care of by the Rangers. Kim pulls out the Pan Global Games, and Kat may be the only one who understands why. She'll be just a touch busy at the mo', though, now that Zedd and Rita want to trade her for Ninjor. 321. A Different Shade of Pink, part 3 OAD: November 8, 1995 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Bob Radler Kat is kidnapped (or should that be Katnapped?) by Rito and held prisoner on the moon. By rubbing Rito the right way, she escapes and recaptures the Pink Power Ranger coin. Her courage on the moon and in the water proves to Kim how important it is to continue in gymnastics. Kim grudgingly retires from her stint as a super hero. Thanks to her rather pink-heavy wardrobe, Kat becomes the new Pink Ranger. 322. Rita's Pita OAD: November 11, 1995 Wr: Jackie Marchand Di: Terence H. Winkless Rita's new monster, the Ravenator, goes Greek in the worst way. He infects one of Tommy's pitas, filling him with an intense desire for all things edible. The Rangers better not forget the cherry on top if they want to save their fearless leader. 323. Another Brick in the Wall OAD: November 13, 1995 Wr: Mark Hoffmeier Di: Terence H. Winkless Kat's design for low cost housing (which, strangely enough, includes a two-car garage) wins her an award from the local Homeless Humanitarian Housing organization. Rita accidentally creates the Brick Bully, who turns most of the Rangers into bricks. Billy's special talent for martial arts poses and Kat's knowledge of all things acidic are going to come in handy against this architectural adversary. 324. Chimp in Charge OAD: November 18, 1995 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Terence H. Winkless Irie, my friends! Kat's sign language loving chimp morphs into the Sinister Simian thanks to Evil Villans 'R Us. Although the new Rasta look is quite becoming for our furry friend, the 100 foot wide footprints left in the middle of town can be somewhat disconcerting. With a snippet of fur and a Heismann trophy-style rocket, the Rangers free Kellie the chimp from Rita's spell. 325. Master Vile and the Metallic Armor, part 1 OAD: November 20, 1995 Wr: Mark Litton Di: Bob Radler The arrival of Master Vile, Rita's father and emperor of the M-51 Galaxy, prompts Zordon to endow upon Our Heroes new Metallic Armor (read: Sparkly Spandex). Master Vile searches for the Zeo crystal, a source of incredible power. He releases the Blue Globber, capable of wearing huge gloves and stealing energy at the same time. Kat offers herself as a diversion while Tommy sneaks into the Caves of Deception to retrieve the Zeo crystal. Meanwhile, Billy works on a way to regain control of the Ninja Zords. 326. Master Vile and the Metallic Armor, part 2 OAD: November 21, 1995 Wr: Mark Litton Di: Bob Radler Tommy works fast to get the crystal and free Kat before she becomes irreversibly evil. Too late -- the Shogun and Ninja Zords (with the Zeo Crystal in it) are captured by the Globber and sent away to Planet M-51 by Master Vile. You'd think Master Vile would do the smart thing and trash the universe while he's on a roll, but noooooooo, he's got a bit of celebrating to get out of his system. 327. Master Vile and the Metallic Armor, part 3 OAD: November 22, 1995 Wr: Mark Litton Di: Bob Radler Special Note: Special Guest appearances by Vampirus, Robogoat, Slippery Shark, Oysterizer, Fighting Flea, Brick Bully, Hate Master, Garbage Mouth, Incisorator, Invenusable Fly Trap, Artist Mole, Mokumokuren, Centiback, Dischordia. Interesting to note that Dischordia wasn't "created" until episode 331, "The Sound of Dischordia". It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine! While Master Vile and his cronies are off doing the Hustle, the Rangers find their Zords in need of a bit of oil on M-51. They break Master Vile's Connection to the Zeo Crystal thus freeing the Zords. After the Globber destroyed, Master Vile is run out of town. Instead of doing the smart thing and using the power of the Zeo crystal for themseles, the Rangers break the crystal into shards and hide them inside a rip in space and time. Well, guess that'll be the storyline for next season's Kakuranger to Ohranger transformation. 328. I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger OAD: November 23, 1995 Wr: Ron Milbauer, Terri Hughes Di: Doug Sloan Special Note: This version is apparently different from the video release of the same name, although the author doesn't know for sure because she was silly enough to not tape the Fox Kids' TV Takeover. Grrrrr. :I 'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through Angel Grove, Not a creature was stirring, except for Ernie, who was busily baking his special holiday loaves. Well, you try finding a word that'll rhyme with "Grove". Rito and Goldar hold Santa's workshop hostage, forcing the Jolly Ol' Elf to mass-produce evil toys designed to enslave the children of the world (nah...that one's too easy). With a little bit of Christmas cheer, Our Heroes free the workshop and celebrate Christmas in true Angel Grove style. And the best part about it is -- No Singing Alpha!!!!! 329. The Sound of Dischordia OAD: November 25, 1995 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Marco Garibaldi The hills are alive, with the sound of Dischordia. Her hypnotizing voice turns the Rangers into dancing machines. But with a little help from their metallic armor, the Rangers send this dangerous diva flying. 330. Rangers in Reverse OAD: November 27, 1995 Wr: Doug Sloan Di: Marco Garibaldi See the Second Season episode guide, entries number 239 and 240 (Rangers Back in Time, parts 1 and 2). Seriously! It's the same plot, only this time, the Rangers are celebrating Kat's birthday at an amusement park when they're all turned into children. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle? 331. Alien Rangers of Aquitar, part 1 OAD: February 5, 1996 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Vickie Bronaugh Special Note: Special Guest monsters include Miss Chief, See Monster, Lantera, Brick Bully, Crabbie Cabby, Blue Globbor, and a bunch of other monsters I couldn't recognize. This episode also features the new Saban Entertainment logo. Mega-sized Rita, Rito, Goldar, and Zedd are covering Angel Grove with a serious case of toe jam. The Rangers, now reduced to the same age their fandom averages, have to search out the Command Center on foot. After a slight brush with Tengas and the law, the Rangers succeed in finding the Command Center. Itty-bitty problem, though...Goldy and Rito are close behind, implosion bomb for the Command Center in hand. Never fear, the Alien Rangers of Aquitar are here...well, they will be in part 2. 332. Alien Rangers of Aquitar, part 2 OAD: February 6, 1996 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Vickie Bronaugh Special Note: This episode marks the beginning of the official "Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers" series (with new opening credits and everything) Alpha discovers the bomb and defuses it in time (bugger). The Baby Rangers are attacked by Rito and Goldy, but the Aquitian Rangers join the battle in the nick of time (good thing too, they were running low on their Water Toys of Doom). Master Vile selects his best monsters to launch the mother of all attacks against the city. He chooses Professor Longnose as their commander. The Aquitians will have to use both their own Battle Borgs and their borrowed Shogunzords to run Master Vile out of town. 333. Climb Every Fountain OAD: February 7, 1996 Wr: Douglas Sloan Di: Larry Litton Baby Billy and the Alien Rangers build a Power Coin-operated regenerator that successfully turns Baby Billy back into Big Billy. Goldar and Rito prevent the other Rangers' regeneration by stealing the Regenerator device and with it, the Power Coins. Zedd destroys the Power Coins and turns the Regenerator device into Slotsky, our monster of the day. With the help of the Aquitians, and some moves borrowed from both professional wrestling and Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills, Slotsky's bank is broken. 334. The Alien Trap OAD: February 8, 1996 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Larry Litton Billy's attempt at providing pollution-free water for the Aquitians is severely hampered when Eric and Merrick (the Barbaric Brothers) pollute Angel Grove Lake. It'll take more than the Water Toys of Doom to save our Aquatic Allies. 335. Attack of the 60' Bulk OAD: February 10, 1996 Wr: Gilles Wheeler Di: Paul Schrier (Yup, Bulk himself!) A relaxing day at Raging Wa...er, Splash City is interrupted when Zedd turns Baby Bulk into Brat Boy (not that it took all that much doing). Even the Water Toys of Doom aren't enough to stop Brat Boy. Deep down, though, we know that Bulkie's a squishy little softie, and after a bit of reasoning (and some parental smothering), all is well again. During all this, Zedd discovers a weak point in the Command Center's base and orders Goldar and Rito to plant an implosion device that will rock Zordon's world. But wait, there's more! Zordon instructs the Baby Rangers on their up and coming Zeo Quest -- They must reassemble the shards of the Zeo Crystal. Only then will things get back to "normal". 336. Water You Thinking OAD: February 12, 1996 Wr: Jackie Marchand Di: Paul Schrier Baby Rocky is sent to Ancient Mexico, where he must retrieve his Zeo Shard from an active volcano. Back in the "present", Cestro, in his search for a pure water source, runs across Switchblade. Standard posterior pounding ensues, Zeo shard is recovered, on to the next episode. 337. Along Came A Spider OAD: February 13, 1996 Wr: Buzz Alden and charlotte Di: Robert Radler Billy journeys out to Angel Grove University to borrow a Phase Modulater. Meanwhile, Baby Adam putters about Ancient Japan in search of Kiyogi -- a wise man who may know where his Zeo shard is. Cestro and Tideus, thirsty for water, leave for the most obvious pure water source -- the car wash (erm...I take it these folks have never heard of Brita). Zedd and Rita, ever resourceful, turn an innocent spider into Arachnofiend. Arachnofiend's Killer Batting >From A Very Hot Nether Region could mean a sticky end to Our Heroes. 338. Sowing the Seeds of Evil OAD: February 14, 1996 Wr: Stewart St. John Di: Robert Radler Baby Tommy is sent back to an Indian camp, where he must follow the call of nature if he wants to recover his Zeo Shard. Meanwhile, Baby Kat is beside herself -- twice -- during her personal quest for a Zeo shard. Billy's Rain Maker (Brita people, Brita!) is trashed by Tengas as they are ordered by Saban to torture the David Yost fans out there with the possibility of Billy sustaining a crippling injury. Zedd, tired of these games, calls out to Hydro Hog, the Aquitian Rangers' most feared enemy. Zordon blocks the transmission just in time...well, for now, anyway. 339. Hogday Afternoon, part 1 OAD: February 15, 1996 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Isaac Florentine Baby Aisha lands in the middle of a lion's den. Luckily, the mysterious Tanya is there to save her. She tells Baby Aisha of the terrible sickness that has befallen the animals. Zedd sneaks a message to Hydro Hog, bringing him to Earth. Hydro Hog sucks up all the water in sight, leaving the Alien Rangers high and dry. Rito and Goldy finally find their way to the Command Center's basement. After starting the bomb's countdown, they are ordered by Rita to wait until they can steal the assembled Zeo Crystal before blowing up the place. Oh now she tells them. 340. Hogday Afternoon, part 2 OAD: February 17, 1996 Wr: Shuki Levy, Shell Danielson Di: Isaac Florentine Billy does enough cloud seeding to rehydrate the Alien Rangers. Back in Africa, Baby Aisha's Great Aunt Ashala (who is Tanya's tribe's wise woman) asks Baby Aisha to stay and heal the animals. In exchange, she's willing to give Baby Aisha one of the Zeo shards. Baby Aisha agrees, and sends Tanya back to the "present" to take her place as the Yellow Ranger. The Aquitians sink Hydro Hog, the crystal is reassembled, time goes back to normal, and all is well, right? Wrong. Goldar and Rito steal the Zeo Crystal moments before the Command Center (minus the Rangers, who teleported out in the nick of time) is blown to smithereens. Is this the end of the Rangers? (have I asked this question before?) ========== And that's it (until February sweeps, that is)! Questions? Comments? Suggesstions? Corrections? Send them on over to me at tguingab@osf1.gmu.edu, or tguingab@vms1.gmu.edu (and that's a number "one" in osf1 and vms1, not the letter "L"). Smile!
