AMY’S™ ASTRONOMY WORKSHOP
HALLEY’S COMET
Have you ever heard of Halley’s Comet? It was named after Edmund Halley, who was the first astronomer to predict that comets orbit the Sun like planets. Using scientific principles and advanced mathematics, he predicted that a certain comet that appeared in 1682 would appear every 76 years. When the comet reappeared in 1758, he was proven correct. That comet is now known as Halley’s Comet. (Halley’s Comet will appear again in the year 2062!)
