801-OpLs

  • After explaining the demons' ancient capture and recent release, Mitchell told the Ranger candidate teens that Lightspeed had developed technology and highly sophisticated weapons which they believed could stop the demons.
  • Because of their skills, the teens had been chosen to use the weapons to become Lightspeed Power Rangers and defend the city.
  • Seeing the fifth Morpher, Dana asked, "Five?" to which Mitchell replied as he opened the Pink Ranger's secret dossier in his possession that she was the fifth: he had been training her for this for 18 years, and the Morpher was hers, he told her, if she wanted it; she smiled and took it.
  • Despite Dana's questioning of the fifth Morpher, it seems inconceivable that she could have been ignorant of a fifth Ranger, especially considering her familiarity with such items as the five rescue jackets.
  • The numbers of the Lightspeed Rangers matched those of the Turbo Rangers, with Blue 2 and Green 3, while the ordering of most other Power Ranger teams (with the exception of the future Time Force Rangers) had Black or Green second under Red; see "Miss Fairweather" for further Turbo-Lightspeed parallels.
  • Each Ranger had small gold sigils on his boot and glove cuffs, as well as a standard sigil on the belt buckle; the gold Rescue Blaster holster was on the right hip, and the black visor was the first known Ranger visor to cover the entire face.

    802-LsTm

  • The Rangers did not possess typical Ranger awareness of the capabilities and specifics of their weapons, although their visor displays were able to quickly brief them on new weapons, and audio contact with the Aquabase provided further coaching.

    811-FDIS

  • The Rangers, blasted when Titanium Ranger slung their Unilaser blast back at them, would retreat showing no signs of injury.

    813-RyDe

  • Demonite, Falkar, and Thunderon threw Joel, Chad, and Kelsey into a Unilaser beam fired by Carter and Dana; the three blasted Rangers would be okay but would have blackened patches on their suits.

    814-CCob

  • Pointblank simultaneous blasts from the Unilaser and red V-Lancer blew up Demonite and the whole area; a sooty and quite weakened but morphed Carter would survive the blast with several patches burnt away on his front, exposing the circuitry or metallic patchwork beneath.

    822-TrR2

  • Fighting Batlings in colored pairs, some of the Galaxy Rangers were somehow able to use the Lightspeed Rangers' cable equipment, while the Lightspeed Rangers were somehow able to mimic the Galaxy Rangers' animal-specific fighting styles.

    829-EggC

  • Bird Bane's feather darts pierced the Rangers' suits slightly when thrown at their chests.

    833-OlUn

  • When the Power Core's energies were diverted, crippling the Aquabase, Miss Fairweather told the teens she'd overridden the power to the Megazords, and the Rangers were furthermore able to morph unimpaired.

    837-WrQn

  • Being slowly burned alive by constant fiery streaks, the Rangers eventually began to crackle and spark with green electricity as the flames increased in intensity.
  • Minutes later, the burning Rangers called out for Carter to hurry, as it was too hot to breathe.
  • Soon, the Rangers were still being painfully burned in the flames, but they would survive relatively unharmed after being teleported out.

    838-SDem

  • In a test room, the Rangers sat at a mockup of the Lifeforce Megazord cockpit, where collars tapped their life energies with increasing discomfort as the level was raised to 2 and then 3.
  • As the Rangers painfully clutched their heads, Miss Fairweather had it shut down, and the Rangers demorphed weakly.
  • Asked by Captain Mitchell what had happened, Miss Fairweather didn't quite know, admitting that harnessing the Rangers' life energy was more complicated than she'd thought.
  • After being swatted and blasted by giant supercharged Diabolico, Carter had several charred tears in the exterior layer of his suit.
  • The Rangers successfully used Lifeforce level 3 to destroy Diabolico and Olympius.

    First Appearance: 811-FDIS
    Last Appearance: 933-TFLs

    811-FDIS

  • On what happened to be the day before the 20th birthday of the lost Ryan Mitchell, the teens, Miss Fairweather, and Mitchell watched from a booth (Joel running up just in time) as techs attached electrodes to Carter in the pool room in preparation for his testing of the Titanium Morpher, which was placed around his wrist by a tech.
  • The Titanium Morpher bore a shiny blue M design, although the center dip was actually a distinct V.
  • After activating the Morpher, Carter painfully pulsed with blue flashes of the partial Titanium suit, his glowing red nervous system and heart visible during the agonizing flickers which included a fire background, blue energy waves on the border of the partially-formed pieces of Titanium Ranger suit, and a flickering of the digi-tunnel shown during the Rescue Morpher and later the Titanium Morpher morphs.
  • Other flickers included a both red and blue auras, red and blue versions of Carter's visible nervous system, more digi-tunnel flickers, and a brief flash of a background sigil.
  • During the first digi-tunnel flicker, an unusual face, apparently a balding man with perhaps gray hair, was faint in the background, grimacing or flashing a psychotic grin; the elongated shape of the face, with straight vertical edges seeming to border the mouth area, was not suggestive of a normal human. (Editor's note: I really have no idea what this is supposed to be.)
  • Agonized, Carter finally dropped to his hands, gasping as the blue ripples trailed off; he would tell an alarmed Miss Fairweather between gasps that he was okay as the teens rushed out to help him.
  • Miss Fairweather protested to Mitchell that she didn't think they should continue testing the Titanium powers, as the circuitry was too powerful for an ordinary human.
  • As the Rangers regrouped while fighting Vypra the next morning, she announced they were about to meet their match, and Ryan, morphed as the Titanium Ranger, descended from a thundering blue energy cloud before them; how he was able to use the Titanium Morpher is unknown, given the inability of an ordinary human to endure its power.
  • Titanium Ranger had a dull silver suit with same gloves, boots, and belt as the Lightspeed Rangers, but with gold shoulderpads, a gold angled T (or a flattened Y) across his torso, and gold rather than white helmet stripes.
  • Titanium's visor shape was the Rangers' V shape, above which was an italic M imprint with lines above and below, seen later on the Max Solarzord.
  • Titanium had no holster.
  • Titanium Ranger's weapon was the Titanium Laser, a blaster which could be transformed into an axe.
  • Ryan fought the Rangers, his superstrong kicks sending them flying; a bare-handed chop across Carter's stomach made him spark and fly back.
  • Diabolico later told Ryan he'd mastered the powers of the Titanium Morpher, proving himself worthy of being the Titanium Ranger.
  • Morphed Ryan later flew over the city as a blue energy sphere; his landing would crush a flaming crater into the pavement beneath him.
  • The Rangers, wielding the V-Lancers, fought axe-wielding Ryan, at one point surrounding him after knocking his axe away from him, but he fought all five off at once before Kelsey and Carter slashed him painfully.
  • Following a large explosion from the V-Lancers' Spectra Blast which the Rangers expected to be fatal, Ryan fell amidst the flames and rubble, but he soon slammed his hand down in frustration and got up laboriously.

    813-RyDe

  • As Thunderon charged, morphed Ryan leapt forward with a burst of such intense speed that he left a dust explosion behind him in his wake.
  • Ryan's jump-kick sent Thunderon flying back.
  • Ryan pounded Demonite, Falkar, and Thunderon, three monsters which were quite formidable to the five Lightspeed Rangers.
  • Ryan's Ranger crest jacket patch was gray, in a unique shape similar to Green Ranger's but with a flattened base; his number was 6.

    815-SSun

  • The Max Solarzord was ready, but it was useless without a Titanium Ranger, as it had a sophisticated weapons system designed specifically to be operated by the Titanium Ranger.
  • The Solarzord and Solarzord bay bore the M design of the Titanium Ranger.

    Lightspeed Ranger demorphing
    - powering-down process performed by Lightspeed Rangers
You are here: Who / Rangers / Lightspeed Rangers

    801-OpLs

  • With a power-down cry, the Rangers demorphed with Ranger-colored gleams; upon demorphing this initial time, the teens buckled momentarily from the release of energy.

    807-CybR

  • The Rangers fell briefly unconscious without demorphing following a lightning bolt from Strikning; the same attack would later cause the Cyborg Rangers to go haywire.

    808-UpCh

  • After being thrown back by a violent gas explosion, a singed Chad and Kelsey demorphed with Ranger-colored gleams, Kelsey still holding her Rescue Blaster after the demorph, and she would soon pass out and be taken to the hospital for treatment.

    811-FDIS

  • The Rangers didn't demorph upon being blasted by the returned energy of the Unilaser blast flung from Ryan's axe.
  • The large explosion of the V-Lancers' Spectra Blast knocked Ryan down, but he would get up weakly without having demorphed.

    812-TDis

  • Crouching to take a breath after a long journey, Ryan demorphed with a light blue gleam and a flicker of his V shape.
  • After morphing to save Mitchell and then rolling down an embankment with him, Ryan demorphed with a light blue gleam and a flicker of a light blue V and a digi-tunnel as he lay on the ground; this effect was the reverse of his previous instantaneous morph.

    813-RyDe

  • When Chad, Kelsey, and Joel were accidentally blasted by the Unilaser fired by Carter and Dana, they did not demorph despite the charring of sections of their suits.
  • When the Unilaser blast was later reflected back at the five Rangers, they still did not demorph.
  • Later sent smashing through a brick wall by a huge explosion, the Rangers then weakly demorphed with Ranger-colored gleams.
  • Ryan could willfully demorph with the standard light blue gleam by issuing the demorph command to his wrist.

    814-CCob

  • Wracked by pain from his glowing cobra tattoo on his back, Ryan demorphed with a blue gleam while rolling on the ground following a slash from the Demonite clone.
  • Pointblank simultaneous blasts from the Unilaser and red V-Lancer blew up Demonite and the whole area; a sooty and quite weakened Carter would survive the blast with patches burnt into his suit, although he had not demorphed.

    816-CStr

  • Spinning from a V-Lancer Spectra Blast explosion, Troika blasted from his sword as he had done previously, this time leaving the teens demorphed and dirty following an explosion.
  • During Ryan's last battle before the cobra tattoo would destroy him, the cobra monster told Ryan he'd used up all his energy and time, throwing Ryan into some boxes and urns, where he demorphed painfully with light blue energy, although his discarded Titanium Laser would remain.

    822-TrR2

  • Triskull's blasts left the five Lightspeed Rangers (and three Galaxy Rangers) weak and unmorphed in a pile of rocky rubble.

    Lightspeed Ranger helmets/visors
    Lightspeed Ranger helmets/visors
You are here: Who / Rangers / Lightspeed Rangers
Pictures: thermograph display, Blue Ranger's scanner display (shown at right)

    801-OpLs

  • After morphing almost entirely from the Morpher's morphing shield, each Ranger's face-wide visor was left open, but a silver respiration mouthpiece inside his helmet slid up into place over his nose and mouth, and the black visor then slid down to cover the face.
  • Joel was able to morph wearing his hat and then have it back upon demorphing.

    802-LsTm

  • The Rangers did not possess typical Ranger awareness of the capabilities and specifics of their weapons, although their visor displays were able to quickly brief them on new weapons, and audio contact with the Aquabase provided further coaching.
  • The Rangers would often touch one side of their helmets to speak to Rescue Ops (or the others), most frequently touching their right ear but frequently the left ear instead; the Morphers hidden in their left wrists could also be used for the same purpose, on rare occasion even used in conjunction with the ear communication.
  • As Carter listened to his left ear inside Pyro Rescue One, he heard a woman screaming for help, stuck in the building in front of them, and Carter said he was picking up a signal from inside.
  • Carter's view showed a black visor scope: at the top was a black Red Ranger crest with a green sonograph, behind which was a horizontal meter between a pink heart icon on the left and a white block icon on the right; a yellow targeting scope zoomed in on the flaming skyscraper in the distance.
  • Carter's view then cut to the elevator doors and switched over to Thermograph mode, with three warm bodies inside the elevator labeled for him: "Child 1," "Adult 1," and "Child 2."
  • As Mitchell told Carter of a new weapon online, telling him to call for the Rescue Bird, Carter's visor view showed schematics of the Rescue Bird, complete with capability descriptions and part names; see "Rescue Bird" for more.
  • As Mitchell later had Carter prep for Megazord mode, Red Ranger's visor showed graphics of the Lightspeed Megazord assembling, and "Megazord Mode!" then flashed on the screen before Carter called for Megazord mode.

    803-TByF

  • In Ops, Mitchell was able to watch battles through the Rangers' eyes in a monitor.

    804-REdg

  • As the Rangers chased a tornado, Carter activated his scanner; in the thermograph, Carter saw a heat body in the center of the tornado, and it then switched to a closeup of Whirlin's thermal image, labeled "Unknown."
  • Upon calling the Rescue Bird, Carter again saw the same introductory schematics in his visor as he'd seen in 802-LsTm.

    805-AMOT

  • As he looked around to find Fireor in the city, Chad touched the right side of his helmet; his view was shown in his visor-shaped viewing area, with black outside the shape.
  • The greenish schematic view of buildings had an accompanying radar-like circle in the upper left showing the street layout, with a red ray showing which direction he was looking.
  • Atop a skyscraper, Chad's view pinpointed a red blip on the roof, and it zoomed into a real-life view of Fireor from below.

    807-CybR

  • When Carter kicked the malfunctioning Red Cyborg Ranger, it got back up with its visor apparently cracked and transparent, revealing the rebreather within but also wiring and circuitry in place of a face.

    810-RAsh

  • As Carter called for the Gatling Blasters to go online, his helmet visor was displaying a schematic of the Supertrain Megazord with zoomed-in diagrams of the red and blue shoulder coverings, labeled, "Gatling Blasters"; this was a very clear instance of the visor displays filling the Rangers in on specific capabilities of new technology.

    811-FDIS

  • After being nearly killed by the V-Lancers' Spectra Blast, Ryan arose with his visor opened, showing his eyes and his silver rebreather, but he would then snap it shut again with a quick nod of the head.

    812-TDis

  • To open his visor, Ryan touched two fingertips to the left side of his helmet at eye level, sliding up his visor with a quick whir sound, the usual sound accompanying visor movements.
  • A head-bob upward snapped his visor back down.

    815-SSun

  • Dana and Carter briefly opened their visors to whisper to each other while playing dead to ambush Thunderon, and they sealed them back shut seemingly by willpower alone.

    816-CStr

  • Carter instantly knew the new Battle Boosters' numeric codes, presumably informed through visor data.

    818-FFTP

  • In moments of extreme duress or emotion during his firefighting mission with Firefighter Mitchell, Carter's visor would retract up, presumably for a better view of the action.

    819-QRet

  • Like Ryan, the other Rangers could open their visors by touching two fingers to either temple.

    825-YAgn

  • The Rangers' helmets removed by splitting along the sides with a hinge at the top, like most Ranger helmets.

    827-FrZo

  • Carter's thermograph scanner was able to view the captured teens inside Freezard's frozen world inside his belly, although their scale was indeterminate.

    834-NepD

  • As morphed Chad swam underwater, his visor was transparent rather than opaque.

    839-FLs1

  • After retreating from an overwhelming horde of Batlings in the Aquabase, the Rangers removed their helmets as they caught their breath.

    840-FLs2

  • Blasted by Queen Bansheera, Carter was slammed against a column, his helmet flying off.
  • The helmet's shattered visor revealed the rebreather underneath; as the helmet spun on the ground, the inside showed blinking lights within.
  • Beneath the chin of the helmet was a small round filament for air intake.
  • Carter hurled his broken helmet at Bansheera as a distraction before kicking her into the Shadow World coffin.

    - Phrases used to activate thermograph visor display
    804-REdg Carter: "Scanner, online!"

  • Titanium Ranger's visor shape was the Rangers' V shape.
  • The V-Lancers bore V-shaped handles and had V-shaped boomerangs; their combined laser beams would furthermore generate a potent gold V shape of energy which would impact their foe as a finishing move.

    812-TDis

  • Ryan demorphed with a light blue gleam and a flicker of his V shape; the same V would be seen in a flicker during a later instananeous morph and ensuing demorph.

    816-CStr

  • The Battle Boosters were shaped like a silver and black model of the Solarzord with a white V on the side; the enter key on the devices' numeric keypad bore a red V.
  • The code to activate the Booster Beams was 5-5-5, perhaps related to the V/five motif.
