2022 Power Rangers Survey

Hasbro’s Lightning Collection

From time to time, GrnRngr.com asks fans across the world to take surveys to gauge current fandom interest in various subject areas. All data is collected anonymously and overall results are shared with the online Power Rangers community once the surveys are completed.

This question was only asked of those respondents who reported that they collect Lightning Collection figures from specific favorite teams.

Answer % of Votes

Advancements - future Rangers of in-progress teams should use the new base figure 35%
No preference 24%

What is your one favorite Lightning Collection figure released so far?

With over 100 different figures to choose from, answers spanned the entire gamut - from the very first wave released to figures currently trickling out as part of wave 11.

  1. The most frequent response - given by 9.4% of respondents - was the impeccable Mighty Morphin Finster.
  2. Coming in second was our only release from Power Rangers Turbo so far, the oddly classified In Space Phantom Ranger, selected by 4.9% of respondents.
  3. Rounding out the top four were In Space Ecliptor (4.2%) and last year’s winner, Mighty Morphin Green Ranger (4.1%)

Of all the possibilities, what is the one character you most want to see released in figure-form as part of the Lightning Collection?

With a seemingly endless number of possible characters to select from, no single response was given by over 5% of respondents, however...

  1. Just over 4% of respondents named one of last year’s runners-up, Lightspeed Rescue’s Titanium Ranger.
  2. Tied with just under 4% are last year’s other runner-up, Time Force’s Quantum Ranger, and a technically invalid choice (as it’s a pair of characters) - Bulk & Skull.

How would you rate recent Hasbro Lightning Collection figure releases in terms of quality?

Answer % of Votes
Good 40%
Fair 30%
Very Good 15%
Poor 13%
Very Poor 2%

What is your one biggest complaint with the quality of Lightning Collection products?

This question was only asked of those respondents who rated recent Lightning Collection figure releases as Fair, Poor, or Very Poor.

Note that many responses, due to their free form nature, may fall into more than one of the below complaints.

  1. 45% of responses contained the word “paint”. Whether it’s a lack of paint applications or sloppy paint applications, this was easily the biggest gripe with product quality.
  2. 23% of respondents complained of “inconsistency”, often specifically citing the oft non-sensical differences between Rangers of the same team.
  3. 21% of responses mentioned “quality control” issues, such as missing or incorrect parts.

  1. Named by just under 10% of participants, last year’s third-place winner Knasty Knight comes in at number one.
  2. Two other Mighty Morphin monsters round out the top three: Hatchasaurus and Madame Woe, both named by 6% of respondents.
